Revision as of 11:02, 26 January 2016
Getting started
- Welcome to the wiki that we will use just for our class. You will need to create an account so that you can edit and create pages. FYI our class wiki is not the same as the BIG Wikipedia that everyone in the world uses. You will need an account on the BIG wiki, too.
- You will also need a free account on Dropbox
- The class schedule is here. We will probably have to move a few things around and make changes to the schedule, so please check this often. I wouldn't suggest printing it out.
- Add your key terms pages to the key terms directory here. I will begin adding terms for you to write about starting in week 3, but there is room for you to choose a few of your own terms from the reading.
- Add links/images to the Resources page. This page should feature content that adds to the course material in some way -- e.g. relevant stories from the news, memes or other images and a description with an image credit, online guides or other resources, etc.
Week 2
Please create an account on this wiki if you haven't already.
Also, sign up for a free Dropbox account and add your email address to the Google doc I sent around via email this weekend. If you are unfamiliar with how to use Google Docs, check out the "Getting Started" guide here.
For Tuesday, please read the introduction and Chapter 1 of Alice Marwick's book Status Update. For Thursday, we'll continue to question myths like digital exceptionalism and techno utopianism with "Whose Internet Is It Anyway?: A Dialogue On Race, Gender, And The Digital Space".
